Farmland Access in the Berkshires

Symposium


Berkshire Grown and Community Land Trust in the Southern Berkshires convened a conversation among people and organizations working in the Berkshires to put more farmers on the land and more land into farming. Community access to affordable land is critical to our food security and the sustainability of our economy. They hosted a gathered to discuss ways we can build a more secure land base for farms, farmer housing and related businesses. Their intention was to foster dialogue among:

  • Established, new and retired farmers
  • Land owners
  • The land conservation community
  • Agriculture commissions
  • Community food security planners
  • Sustainable community organizers
  • Financial advisors, accountants, assessors and attorneys
